Exciting news: Keimoi Lowline cows have arrived in the United States!

Five Keimoi Lowline cows have finally arrived at their new homes in the United States after months of quarantine and testing. One heifer has arrived at Jim Eldridge’s ranch in Sweet Idaho, and four heifers and a cow have arrived at Dr Keith Hanson’s, Spring Creek Farm in Hampton, Iowa. We believe these Keimoi females will not only be valuable additions to their respective buyers bloodlines, but will also make a very positive contribution to the United States Lowline herd.

Here at KEIMOI we are experiencing one of the best autumn breaks we have had for years. Good rain over the last couple of months has given us the opportunity to resew pastures, which have been suffering after a long dry spell.

Ground water supplies are still seriously depleted in our area as there has been very little run-off to refill creeks and dams so far but this will soon change if we get good follow-up rain. The drought in our area is far from over and we still have most of our herd agisted out of the area but we are at least heading in the right direction.

On the cattle front, we are busy assessing the calves born last spring, preparing for our spring calf drop and planning future joinings. We have just weaned some excellent heifer and bull calves sired by Elandra Park Umph, Trungley Prince Larimar and Colombo Park Tannhauser. We will be selecting and training our future Keimoi show team from this line-up.

We have also purchased a very smart young bull from the Murray Oak Stud. Murray Oak Alex is a growthy type of young bull with excellent confirmation and muscle who should compliment some of our earlier maturing Keimoi females.

We are also in the process of planning an AI program with semen from Trangie K085. We are hoping to implement the program in late spring/early summer. We have not had calves from this bull for a number of years and his genetics are very limited within the Lowline herd. His progeny will be worth looking for in the future.
